T‑Bucket Perfection in 1:5 Scale
Hot Rod ClassicScale Redefined
The time has finally come: After an intensive development phase, our latest project is launching – the faithful replica of a Ford T23 Bucket in 1:5 scale.
In close collaboration with California Custom Roadsters in Los Angeles, a model was created that is based on the original plans of the legendary Hot Rod and has been authentically realized down to the last detail.
We also consistently rely on genuine automotive engineering for materials and manufacturing methods: The frame is made from steel profile tubes, axle carriers and wheel suspensions are welded, and the body is produced using classic GRP construction. The result is an exceptional model with authentic character, the highest level of detail, and the unmistakable puristic look of a real T-Bucket.

In the following report, we will present the manufacturing and construction of our T-Bucket in detail. This will allow you to participate in every step of our model’s creation and gain exciting insights into the technical details of the vehicle. Our report will be published in several sections, documenting the progress of the build. So, if you are interested, simply follow our posts regularly and stay up to date.
The Frame
The construction of our T-Bucket, like any car, begins with the frame. This consists of carefully prepared square tubes, cut and welded to scale according to the original plans. When considering how to weld such a small item with high quality and authenticity, we turned to Lampert Werktechnik and decided to purchase a PUK U5 welding machine. I must say, this device is simply a joy to use!
The Engine
The ScaleMonkey T-Bucket was specifically developed for the Cison V8 OHV engine. We chose this engine because it is currently one of the most realistic and powerful engines available in this scale on the market. The compact 8-cylinder, 4-stroke engine is inspired by the 440 Chevrolet V8 and features a 44cc displacement with approximately 4.8 HP. This is more than sufficient for our project to create a realistic Hot Rod.
For the T-Bucket’s engine, we naturally designed matching attachments and manufactured them with precise craftsmanship. This includes a custom-designed Custom Air Cleaner in the characteristic Gasser style. This air filter features a high-performance filter element that barely restricts airflow, thus ensuring optimal engine performance. For cooling, a brass radiator was developed, featuring 26 tubes with a total length of 1.8m. With this radiator and the engine-mounted fan, operation for approximately 10 minutes at average RPM is possible.
A real eye-catcher is the Side Pipe exhaust system designed by ScaleMonkey. The eight header pipes are all approximately the same length and lead to an elegant side pipe. This achieves the same back pressure and resonance for each cylinder, producing a powerful V8 sound for a model engine.
