About ScaleMonkey
Model building with ambition and character.
ScaleMonkey stands for sophisticated RC model building – with the meticulous eye of a manufactory and the authentic spirit of a garage. Precise engineering, high-quality materials, and profound model-building know-how meet the fascination of extraordinary vehicles, their technology, and their character.
We don’t build off-the-shelf models. Our own products are born from the commitment to bring technology, function, and design together consistently – from thoughtfully designed kits with a genuine builder’s experience to precisely developed rolling chassis.
Our portfolio is complemented by professional upgrades for selected third-party models and accessories that we use in our own projects. Nothing is chosen by chance. Every part must function, impress, and meet ScaleMonkey’s high standards.
Wherever possible, development and manufacturing are Handmade in Germany. With technical ambition, meticulous craftsmanship, and the willingness to take things into our own hands. We question existing solutions, develop our own concepts, and never settle for the first option.
Because for us, RC model building is more than a scale. It’s about engineering, character, and the ambition to build something of your own.
For model builders who won’t settle for standard.

Handmade in Germany!
ScaleMonkey is developed and engineered in Germany – combining modern technology, classic model building know-how, and craftsmanship where it makes a difference.
Every model begins with its design. Using SolidWorks, we digitally develop components, check proportions, functions, and technical relationships, and then transfer the design to manufacturing. This results in precise, true-to-scale components that not only look good but also function and withstand model operation.
For our milled parts, we work with a specialized high-end CNC manufacturing company in Sankt Augustin. From individual prototypes to series production, they create components with the precision our designs demand.
We deliberately rely on selected specialists when they can solve a manufacturing task better. The result is what matters to us: clean design, precise manufacturing, high-quality materials, and a component that ultimately does exactly what it’s supposed to.
And then comes the part that no CNC machine can replace: adjustment, assembly, finish, and the manual inspection of every detail.
For us, “Handmade in Germany” therefore doesn’t mean doing everything ourselves. It means taking responsibility for the result – from the first line on the screen to the finished part in your hands.

The story of ScaleMonkey
My name is Karsten Möbius. I have been a passionate model builder since childhood. In 2014, I founded ScaleMonkey – driven by an enthusiasm for exceptional car models and the ambition to take model building beyond the standard.
Even as a child, models fascinated me – from small gliders to US quarter-scale car models. What was particularly exciting for me was never just the finished model, but what lay beneath: construction, mechanics, materials, and the question of how a real vehicle could be credibly replicated technically and visually in miniature.
A special milestone was building a Cobra 427 V8 combustion engine kit in 1:4 scale from Gary Conley in the USA. A functional V8 as a model – with real mechanical interconnections. Precisely such projects shaped my view of model building: a good model shouldn’t just look good. It should be technically convincing and bring as much joy during construction as it does later in the display case or on the road.
The 1:4 scale never really caught on in car model building. Today, ScaleMonkey therefore focuses on the established 1:5 and 1:6 scales – especially for vehicles from the era of large combustion engines. Vehicles whose character lives not only from their form, but from their technology, their history, and their mechanical structure.
From this passion, we now create our own kits, rolling chassis, and technical upgrades for existing models – developed for model builders for whom standard is not enough. In addition, we select components and accessories that meet the same high standards we apply to our own products.
ScaleMonkey remains what it started as: model building born of passion, with an eye for engineering and the ambition to do things right. If you’ve ever spent hours working on a detail that hardly anyone will notice later – then you know what it’s all about.
You can buy standard. The rest begins where you get hands-on.
