T-Bucket Perfection in 1:5 scale
Hot Rod Classics Scale redefined
The time has finally come: After an intensive development phase, our project is starting – the faithful reproduction of a Ford T23 Bucket in 1:5 scale. In close cooperation with California Custom Roadsters in Los Angeles, we were able to implement our model precisely based on their original plans.
When choosing the materials and manufacturing methods, we deliberately relied on real vehicle technology. The frame is made of steel profile tubes, the axle supports and wheel suspensions are welded, and we manufacture the body in the classic way from fiberglass. The result: a model with an authentic character and an unadulterated, purist look.

In the following report, we will present the production and construction of our T-Bucket in detail. This gives you the opportunity to participate in every step of the creation of our model and gain exciting insights into the technical details of the vehicle. Our report will be published in several sections that document the progress of the construction. So, if you are interested, simply follow our posts regularly and stay up to date.
The Frame
The construction of our T-Bucket begins, as with any car, with the frame. This consists of carefully prepared square tubes, which are cut to size and welded according to the original plans in the appropriate scale. When it came to the question of how to weld something so small in a high-quality and true-to-original manner, we contacted the company Lampert Werktechnik and decided to purchase a PUK U5 welding machine. I have to say, this device is simply fun!
The Engine
The ScaleMonkey T-Bucket was specially developed for the Cison V8 OHV engine. We chose this engine because it is currently one of the most realistic and powerful engines on the market in this scale. The compact 8-cylinder 4-stroke engine is inspired by the 440 Chevrolet V8 and has a displacement of 44ccm with approx. 4.8 hp. This is more than sufficient for our project to realize a realistic hot rod.
For the engine of the T-Bucket, we have of course designed suitable attachments and manufactured them with precise craftsmanship. This includes a custom-designed Custom Air Cleaner in the characteristic Gasser Style. This air filter has a high-performance filter element that hardly affects the air flow and thus ensures optimum engine running. For cooling, a water cooler made of brass was developed, which has over 26 pipes with a total length of 1.8m. With this cooler and the radiator attached to the engine, operation of approx. 10 minutes at average speed is possible.
A real eye-catcher is the Side Pipe exhaust system designed by ScaleMonkey. The eight manifold pipes are all approximately the same length and lead to an elegant side pipe. This achieves the same back pressure and resonance for each cylinder, which generates a powerful V8 sound for a model engine.
Precision is no accident; it is our goal.
