My name is Karsten Möbius, I am from Ulm, Germany, and I am a passionate hobby model builder. Since 2014, I have been operating ScaleMonkey, a platform for model building fans.
I have been involved in building models since my childhood – from small glider models to US quarter-scale car models. I am particularly fascinated by how ideas can be implemented in design and mechanics. A special highlight was the assembly of a Cobra 427 V8 internal combustion engine kit in 1:4 scale by Gary Conley from the USA.
The 1:4 scale did not establish itself in car model building and is increasingly disappearing from the scene. Therefore, we focus today on the common scales of 1:5 and 1:6. Our focus is on the detailed reproduction of the era of large internal combustion engines. By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing processes, models with a special appeal are created – each one a unique piece, crafted with great heart and passion.
Thanks to our long-standing contacts with model builders worldwide, we always strive for the highest quality and perfection. ScaleMonkey supports you with tricky questions regarding construction – whether about components, design, or specific challenges.

Our models are created here in-house – from the first sketch to the smallest detail – with love and passion. This is how we guarantee you quality and joy in our products, offering far more than just a low price.
We develop our models using SolidWorks 3D software, so we know exactly how they will function and look early in the process. This results in precise, true-to-scale components that can withstand intensive model operation. Our milled parts are manufactured in a high-end CNC milling center in Sankt Augustin – from individual parts to series production in certified quality.
