We at <span class=\"kmw_invisible-link\">ScaleMonkey<\/span> constantly notice that more and more questions are arising in this area. The global market and new media such as social networks, forums, and even model-building events introduce new and even better products every day.<br\/>In the best-case scenario, products are advertised that are optimal for their intended application but not for everything. Here, one should carefully consider whether they truly need it. Unfortunately, dubious characters and a lot of charlatans also lurk here, re-labeling inferior products and marketing them as high-end. Most of the time, people later doubt their own abilities because they supposedly used a \u201csuper\u201d product.     <\/p><p>We would like to emphasize in advance that our recommendation is aimed at building models in the wood construction style, i.e., true model building.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46eae735 smc-post-content-width smc-post-heading elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"46eae735\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Gluing and Bonding<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3777eec9 smc-post-content-width smc-spezial-notes-tipp smc-p-text-conclusion elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3777eec9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Especially concerning the gluing or bonding of wooden parts for ships or airplanes, you often hear hair-raising stories, but there is only one correct answer: wood glue (white glue). Everything else is just a waste of money and has no place in proper models.<br\/>Here, you should trust leading manufacturers and preferably use a waterproof white glue, such as Bindan D3 Propeller Glue or Ponal Express. <\/p><p>A little tip: Stock up on your glue before winter. Delivery of these glues is not possible at temperatures below 0\u00b0 Celsius, as they could otherwise be damaged. <\/p><p>These glues have the advantage that they can be easily diluted with water for certain applications and thus dosed more precisely. Excess glue can be easily removed with water as long as it has not dried.<br\/>Unfortunately, white glue takes about 12 hours to cure, and sometimes you have tricky areas to bond that cannot be permanently held or fixed. In such cases, we use superglue to temporarily fix the parts with small dots, and then fill the adhesive surfaces with diluted white glue.   <br>Syringes from the medical field with 1.2 mm cannulas are excellent for this.<\/p><p>For hulls, especially in ship model building, which are constructed using frame building methods, a high degree of stability is desired. Often, due to the many curved surfaces, the adhesive areas are not optimal. In such cases, it is advisable to coat the entire hull with thick resin afterward. This fills any cavities and thus bonds the entire hull into a single unit.<br\/>For this, we use a 40-minute resin, which can be thickened with thixotropic agent as needed.<br\/>If additional stability is required in some areas, it is possible to pre-fill these with resin thickened with cotton flock. This is particularly helpful in the bow area or for motor mounts.    <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6907893c smc-post-content-width smc-post-heading elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6907893c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sealing and Priming<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What techniques and products can be used to achieve a perfect result in model building?
